If you have to stay in Rome for long period, I recommend to buy a prepaid calling card, it costs 5 euros with 5 euros of telephone traffic included working right at the moment.

In my opinion the best Telephone Company is "Wind Infostrada", the phone shots are counted per second not per minute, has a very good signal and prices.
